The New York Yankees have been MLB’s best team so far in 2022. They have a deep roster that is firing on all cylinders… for the most part. Outfielders Joey Gallo and Aaron Hicks have labored mightily. As a result, the Yankees biggest need at the trade deadline is outfield help. Joey Gallo’s struggles have led many to believe he will be dealt at the trade deadline. Jimmy O’Brien of Jomboy Media, who happens to be an avid Yankees fan, shared his thoughts on Gallo and Miguel Andujar.

Andújar gets called up. Starts in left field. Bats 5th. Come thru with RISP and 2 outs. Should be on the team over Gallo. Should get a real shot at the gig from now til trade deadline. Should be the easiest no-brainer decision to ever be made. Won’t happen.

As seen in the Tweet above, O’Brien was commenting on a highlight of Miguel Andujar. Andujar previously requested a trade from the Yankees after being sent to the minors.

But the Yankees would be wise to keep him around. Here are 2 reasons why the Yankees should trade Joey Gallo and not Miguel Andujar.

1. Joey Gallo isn’t a fit

The obvious answer is that Gallo’s performance has been underwhelming. His .165/.276/.330 slash line confirms that.
