After reports swirled Friday that contract talks between Jordan Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes had come to a stand still, the conversations picked up on Saturday.

A source close to the situation told WRAL Sports Saturday that talks between both sides had been productive and they were encouraged a deal would get done that would work for both sides.
