The Reds and right-hander Hunter Greene are in agreement on a six-year, $53MM contract extension, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. The deal, which is pending a physical, starts this year and also has a $21MM club option for 2029 with a $2MM buyout. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the deal can max out at $91.2MM with the option and escalators, though C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports that the escalators can push the total beyond $95MM. Heyman subsequently added that $96.2MM is the max amount available under the deal. Greene had been on pace to reach free agency after 2027, so the option potentially gives the club an extra two years of control over his services.
