Left-handed starter Rich Hill and the Pirates agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal, pending a physical, a major-league source confirmed to The Athletic on Tuesday. ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported the news. Here’s what you need to know:

Hill turns 43 in March and will be entering his 19th MLB season.

Pittsburgh will be his 12th MLB team, making Hill the 11th player in league history to play for that many teams or more.

Hill put up a 4.27 ERA across 26 starts (124 1/3 innings) with the Red Sox last season.
