Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is in the midst of another huge season, slashing .323/.391/.456 with four home runs, 17 RBIs and 26 runs scored through 42 games. Barring injury, it looks like "X" could be on his way to his fourth All-Star campaign (and third in four seasons), while showcasing a plus-glove at one of the most important positions on the diamond as well.
Still, his future with the team he is spent his entire nine-plus MLB seasons with is very much up in the air. In the offseason, Bogaerts turned down a contract extension offer from Boston and in mid-April, Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom admitted that at that point the organization's extension talks hadn't "aligned" with either the shortstop or fellow All-Star infielder Rafael Devers.
