Toronto Blue Jays starter Robbie Ray was named the 2021 American League Cy Young Award winner Wednesday, receiving 29 of 30 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

The 30-year-old left-hander led the AL in ERA (2.84), strikeouts (248), WHIP (1.045), innings pitched (193 ?) and starts (32).

Ray is a free agent this winter and is considered one of the top available players.

New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole, who received the only other first-place vote, finished second and Chicago White Sox starter Lance Lynn was third in voting.
