The Toronto Raptors are heading into a new era for their franchise. Long-time point guard, Kyle Lowry, is no longer with the franchise. He signed a deal with the Miami Heat and landed in South Beach via sign-and-trade this NBA offseason.

With Lowry no longer on the roster, it is time for other players to take over as the face of the franchise. Toronto has a lot of intriguing talent on their roster as they look to get back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam headline the new-look roster. OG Anunoby, Gary Trent Jr. and Scottie Barnes, who was selected No. 4 overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, help make up the new core of the Raptors going forward.

With Barnes likely coming off the bench to begin his career, the other four players mentioned above and whoever Nick Nurse decides to use at center make up a very talented starting five. But, there could be more moves made before the 2021-22 season gets underway.

Toronto’s front office could decide to enter a wider-scaled rebuild, moving on from some of the older pieces of their core. The selection of Barnes would make it seem that moving one of their forwards, whether it is Anunoby or Siakam, seems likely at one point.

While nothing is imminent currently, Anunoby would certainly draw a lot of attention were he to be put on the trading block. Here are three teams who should consider a trade for the former Indiana product.

3. Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the teams most linked in trade rumors with the Toronto Raptors. They have a lot of interest in Pascal Siakam to help fill the void in their frontcourt rotation.

While targeting Siakam makes sense, his teammate, OG Anunoby, would also be a logical trade target for the Kings. Sacramento has an unbalanced roster right now, with a lot of assets being invested in the backcourt. While the frontcourt is a sore spot with Marvin Bagley III not panning out thus far, they are even thinner on the wing.

Buddy Hield has been playing for some minutes on the wing as the team was using De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton. With Davion Mitchell being selected with their first-round pick in 2021, they will be investing even more minutes to their point guards.

Landing a player such as Anunoby would give the team a legitimate building block on the wing. He is developing into a legitimate 3-and-D player, providing excellent defense along with an improving 3-point shot. He made a career-high 39.8 percent of his 3-pointers this past season and has upped his career number to 37.5 percent.

Improving defensively is key for the Kings to seriously challenge for a playoff spot in the Western Conference. They had the worst defensive rating in the history of the NBA last season and still finished only two games out of the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Anunoby would help improve that and give the Kings a wing building block to go along with their excellent point guard trio they have put together.
