The Washington Nationals completed one of the biggest blockbuster trade deadline deals in recent memory last month when they shipped Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Nationals were heavily rumored to trade Scherzer at the July 30 trade deadline. Considering that the Nationals’ playoff aspirations this season are slim to none and the fact that Scherzer will hit free agency in the offseason, this was a move that the team simply had to make.
Even with Scherzer now with the Dodgers, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo is not counting out a possible reunion with the three-time Cy Young award winner.
Speaking to The Sports Junkies show on 106.7 The Fan, Rizzo noted that he would indeed love it if Scherzer returned to Washington to finish off his career there.
