There are few worse feelings in this world than losing something you need. NBA teams are no different.

Suppose you’re a guitarist on your way to a big gig. Where did that guitar pick go? Suddenly, excitement becomes anxiety. Alternatively, nobody’s going to pay you to paint their house if you can’t find your brush.

Sometimes, they lose players they were relying on. Often, that’s due to injuries. On the other hand, unlike a guitar pick, players cannot so easily be replaced.

Sometimes, that means bringing in a player who replaces at least one aspect of their skill set. They may not be a perfect replacement, but until the other player returns, they’ll suffice.

The Memphis Grizzlies sure could use a replacement for Jaren Jackson Jr. in 2022-23. He’s slated to miss a fair chunk of the year with an injury. Here’s a deal that has them landing Kevin Love as a short-term measure.

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G/F Dillon Brooks, G/F Danny Green, C Killian Tille

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F/C Kevin Love
