Colorado dominated the first half but Stanford roared back to make it a tight game late.
It was all Colorado through the first 30 minutes of action on Friday. The Buffaloes led Stanford 29-0 at halftime as they put together their best overall performance in any half this season under first-year coach Deion Sanders.
That was as good as it would get.
The Cardinals would come out of halftime ready to play and would go on to score the next 26 points to get within three.
Leading 36-33, the Cardinals would engineer a drive in the final minutes to kick a field goal to send the game into overtime.
Colorado and Stanford both scored, so they went into double overtime.
In the second overtime, Shedeur would toss an interception and the Cardinals would go on to score and win.
Not helping matters for Colorado was how undisciplined the team was as they had a ridiculous amount of penalties that hurt them throughout the second half. The loss ended what should’ve been a coming-out party for the return of Travis Hunter.
Instead of being 5-2, the Buffaloes dropped a heartbreaker to fall to 4-3 on the year.
On the night, Shedeur Sanders was 30 of 40 from the field for 382 yards and four touchdowns.
