There was a scary scene during Saturday’s night’s game between the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Late in the game, Hurricanes’ star safety Kam Kinchens went down immediately after accidentally colliding with Texas A&M receiver Ainias Smith. Kinchens was barely able to move but managed to twitch his hand as medical personnel attended to him.
Kinchens was carted off and taken to a local hospital. Speaking to reporters after the game, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal gave an update on Kinchens’ condition, stating that things appeared to be “relatively normal” for the 20-year-old, and that “everything seems fine.”
Miami defeated Texas A&M 48-33 to improve to 2-0 on the young season. Kinchens was one of the Hurricanes’ most productive players, recovering a fumble while recording seven tackles (third-most among Miami players) in the game.
Here’s hoping that Kinchens is doing alright and that he’ll have a safe and speedy recovery.
