San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy got the last laugh on Pittsburgh Steelers’ cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Ahead of Sunday’s showdown between the 49ers and Steelers at Acrisure Stadium, Peterson took it upon himself to trash talk the second-year quarterback. Speaking on the All Things Covered podcast (h/t Kevin Patra of NFL.com), Peterson boldly claimed he would get an interception off the second-year QB.
“There is some tell signs out there that tells us what plays we’re gonna get from those guys in certain situations. When I get my pick Sunday, we’ll talk about it.”
After the game, Purdy clapped back at Peterson by politely asking if the future Hall of Famer was the one who gave up the 49ers’ second touchdown:
Yes it was, Mr. Purdy. Yes it was
The 49ers cruised to a 30-7 victory over the Steelers, moving to 1-0 on the year. They’ll head back to California for a road contest against the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams next Sunday.
