Pierre-Luc Dubois did not come right out and say that the Winnipeg Jets aren’t in his long-range plans, but it’s pretty easy to see where things are headed.

The 24-year-old centre will become a restricted free agent once again this summer and is just one season away from unrestricted status.

He’s made no secret of the fact that he’d like to choose where he plays — his agent has certainly made it sound like Montreal is his first option — and if he plays his cards correctly, he just might earn that right.

“The CBA gives UFAs the right to pick whatever they want,” Dubois said Saturday, as the Jets held a season-ending availability at Canada Life Centre.

“I’m not a UFA, so I don’t worry about that. But the right to choose is something that personally, it gives you power. You can make your decision and not just go where you’re told. So for me, that’s something that’s pretty important.”
