Colorado Avalanche right winger Valeri Nichushkin is away from the team for personal reasons, coach Jared Bednar said after the team’s 6-4 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. Here’s what you need to know:

When asked if he expects Nichushkin’s absence to be long term, Bednar said, “I have no idea.” He is not with the team “at this point.” Bednar also indicated this is not for disciplinary reasons.

Nichushkin played the first two playoff games against the Kraken. He scored the game-tying goal in Game 2, en route to the Avalanche’s 3-2 win.

During the regular season, Nichushkin had 17 goals and 30 assists through 53 games played.
