Nebraska’s first football commitment for the Class of 2025 came Thursday from Caden VerMaas, an athlete out of Millard North High School in Omaha who’s play projects as a defensive back at the next level. Here’s what you need to know:

VerMaas, 6-foot and 195 pounds, also considered an offer from Iowa State.

He visited Lincoln Thursday to deliver the news in person to coach Matt Rhule.

VerMaas was among a sizable group of Nebraska high school players who met with Rhule and his first set of hires in early December at their first event for recruits on campus.
