TreVeyon Henderson’s smile says it all. The Ohio State running back is back and healthy again.
Although not participating in team drills this spring as a precaution, Henderson is on the field for individual drills during spring practice. He’s itching to return to full participation, but the standout running back is OK with being cautious if that means he’ll go into next season feeling more like the Freshman All-American who exploded onto the college football scene in 2021.
“I’m finally getting that confidence back and getting going again,” Henderson said.
His excitement to be back on the field is heightened after a mentally and physically challenging 2022 season. The No. 1 running back recruit in the 2021 class, he broke a bone in his foot in the third game of the 2022 season against Toledo and tried to play through it. He was limited to eight appearances and said he tweaked the injury in every game he played.
Not being at his best was tough on him, but it also put a chip on his shoulder. In an Ohio State running back group loaded with talent, all five scholarship players could push for playing time this season. Henderson is ready to compete.
“I feel like I’m back to myself,” he said. “I started doing some individual work, but they want to keep me out of team work just to be safe. When I come back, they want me to come back for good.”
