What Dusty May has done with the FAU program is incredible, taking them to the Final Four. A dream run for anybody, let alone the young head coach May is. If he were to put his name on the open market and go for a big-time job, May would likely have multiple suitors. However, per a report, he is not going to be available in the near future.
According to CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander, May will sign a “lucrative long-term” contract to remain with Florida Atlantic following the Final Four. No terms have been revealed quite yet but one thing is for sure — no matter how the Final Four turns out, May will not be leaving the program.
“Exclusive: Dusty May and FAU AD Brian White tell @CBSSports May is staying at FAU and will sign a lucrative long-term contract after the F4,” Norlander said via Twitter. “FAU also has more than $10 million to invest in facilities+arena this offseason and in the years to come.”
While being a nine-seed might say FAU’s run to Houston is Cinderella-esque, May led them to one of the best records in college basketball. To some extent, the Owls expected to make a deep NCAA Tournament run but even so, making the Final Four has to be a surreal feeling.
