Deandre Ayton might not be a superstar as of right now, but he is still one of the best big men in the league. He is a solid post scorer and rebounder as of right now, and currently, Deandre Ayton is putting up 17.8 PPG, 10.1 RPG, and 2.1 APG for the Phoenix Suns.
There has been a lot of speculation about Deandre Ayton potentially leaving the Phoenix Suns at some point in the future. He notably signed a max contract with the Indiana Pacers during the summer, but the Phoenix Suns ended up matching his deal and retaining him because of his status as a restricted free agent at the time.
On a recent episode of The Lowe Post podcast, Dallas Mavericks insider Tim MacMahon revealed that Deandre Ayton is a player that the Mavericks are interested in, though he did note that they would likely acquire him "down the road" rather than before the trade deadline.
He’s a name that I’ve heard around the Mavericks. And again, I think that would have to be a later-than-right-now type of situation. … I think that’s more than likely a down-the-road conversation.
