Nebraska has zeroed in on Matt Rhule as the program's next head coach, with both sides hoping to finalize a deal in the coming days, sources told ESPN's Chris Low.

Rhule was fired in October after serving as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers for 38 games.

The Cornhuskers relieved Scott Frost of his duties earlier this season in his fifth year with the school.
