Nothing beats a perfect pair, same thing applies in the NBA. There is something irresistibly satisfying about any two things, or people, that work in perfect harmony together.
Peanut butter and jelly. Peaches and cream. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe. OK, fine. You’re free to disagree on the last one.
The search for a perfect pairing extends into the NBA as well. Specifically, NBA teams are looking for the perfect backcourt. Ideally, any team would prefer to run two guards whose skill sets match each other to a point of perfection.
Of course, assembling such a backcourt is easier said than done. Just ask the Washington Wizards. For a time, they had a great pairing between John Wall and Bradley Beal.
Unfortunately, since Wall’s injury and subsequent departure, they’ve had a hard time finding the perfect backcourt mate for Beal.
Here’s a trade that has them hoping Lonzo Ball can be that point guard.
Chicago Bulls Receive: G/F Will Barton, F Deni Avdija
Washington Wizards Receive: G Lonzo Ball
