The Buffalo Sabres signed forward Tage Thompson to a seven-year extension worth $50 million on Tuesday.

The new pact will begin in 2023-24. Thompson, 24, has one year remaining on his current deal with a cap hit of $1.4 million. He would have become a restricted free agent once it expired.
