There has been another wrinkle added to the trade saga between Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. It was revealed by Shams Charania of The Athletic that more suitors are emerging for the former NBA MVP.

One of the teams that are now showing interest is the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are one of the best up-and-coming teams in the NBA as they have turned things around rather quickly under head coach Taylor Jenkins.

Jenkins took over in 2019, replacing J.B Bickerstaff after he was on the sidelines for one season. The Grizzlies have quickly ascended, going from a 34-win team in his first season as head coach to a 56-win team this past season.

The Grizzlies finished with the second-best record in the NBA during the 2021-22 season, earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference behind the Phoenix Suns. While they were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round by the eventual champion Golden State Warriors, Memphis looks like a team that is here to stay.

Already one of the best teams in the NBA, no one would fault them for sticking to their young core and developing organically through continued player development. But, acquiring Durant would cement their standing as one of the most dangerous teams in the conference.

What could it take for the Grizzlies to land the former MVP? Let’s take a look at this hypothetical trade that lands Durant in Memphis.

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: F Kevin Durant

Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Dillon Brooks, C Steven Adams, G Desmond Bane, G/F Danny Green, 2023 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick (via GSW), 2025 First-Round Pick, 2027 First-Round Pick, 2029 First-Round Pick

The Brooklyn Nets have set a sky-high asking price for Kevin Durant, which isn’t all too surprising. It will be difficult for teams to build a package compelling enough for the Nets to even engage in trade talks, but the Memphis Grizzlies can certainly get close.
