Four-star safety Elliot Washington provided a surprise Friday with a commitment to Penn State after previously announcing a verbal pledge to Alabama in January.

In flipping from the Crimson Tide to the Nittany Lions, the standout from Venice High School in Florida gives Penn State another defensive back in a 2023 class that is now loaded with them. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Washington visited Penn State on June 10 and two weeks later visited Michigan State — where he posed for a photo with a goat during his trip.
