Five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, the highest-ranked recruit in the history of the state of Iowa, committed to stay in-state and relocate two hours east to play for the Hawkeyes, he announced Thursday afternoon. He also is the highest-ranked commit for Iowa.
Proctor (6-foot-8, 335 pounds), the nation’s No. 10 overall recruit in the Class of 2023 in the 247Sports Composite, chose Iowa over Alabama. Proctor, who attends Des Moines-area Southeast Polk High School, took more than a dozen unofficial trips to Iowa’s campus over his high school years before taking an official visit June 23-25.
His familiarity with Iowa initially caused him to skip an official visit. His allotted five trips originally included Arkansas State, Alabama, Oregon, Penn State and Michigan. After traveling to Arkansas State, where his former high school quarterback attends, and then Alabama, Proctor canceled the final three visits. He then announced Iowa and Alabama were his top two choices and he would visit Iowa City officially before making a final decision, which he did today.
