The Philadelphia 76ers may not need another star player. Between Joel Embiid, James Harden, and Tyrese Maxey, they’ve arguably got the most impressive collection of them in the NBA.
Having said that, the Sixers are run by General Manager Daryl Morey. They may not need another star, but rest assured, they’d add one if they could.
As it happens, there may be one on the open market. It feels like the relationship between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets has soured. His regular, unexplained absences have got the organization second-guessing the possibility of offering him a long-term contract.
That’s fair enough. On the other hand, something tells us Morey wouldn’t flinch at the same opportunity.
For all of his flaws, Kyrie Irving is one of the most talented players in the NBA. Generally speaking, Morey is a GM that emphasizes talent above all else.
If he’s willing to look past Irving’s eccentricities, here’s a trade he could propose that would land him in Philadelphia.
Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Tobias Harris, G Tyrese Maxey
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Kyrie Irving, 2023 First-Round Pick (PHI via BKN)
