Penn State’s recruiting momentum continues with four-star safety DaKaari Nelson announcing his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Saturday. Nelson, who is ranked 271st nationally in the 247Sports Composite is the 23rd-ranked safety in the 2023 cycle.
The 6-foot-3, 203-pound standout took an official visit to Penn State on June 10 and had a group of finalists that included Auburn, Tennessee, Clemson, Oregon and Kentucky. Nelson is the second player from Alabama in Penn State’s now 15-person 2023 class. Four-star defensive lineman Tomarrion Parker of Phenix City, Alabama, the 80th-ranked player this cycle, picked Penn State on Tuesday.
Nelson joins two other defensive backs in the class, three-star cornerback Lamont Payne and four-star safety Conrad Hussey. Hussey, who committed to Penn State in April, and unofficially visited Florida State earlier this week.
