As per reports, Real Madrid signed French sensation Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco. He will arrive this summer for around €80 million, with the potential of the transfer arising to over €100 million with add-ons.
After missing out on Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, Real Madrid are back with their strategy of buying young players that are not huge names. Even without the huge marketing appeal of Mbappe or Haaland, Tchouameni is a great signing. Here are three reasons why Real Madrid made the right decision in signing Aurelien Tchouameni.
3. He is one of the best young players in the world
As said above, the new Real Madrid strategy is buying young talent. After the Galactico era, with all the success it bought to Madrid, Los Merengues slowly turned towards younger, unproven players. The transfers of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard, both of which have not worked out, clearly changed the vision that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has about the club. He started with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes but also brought in the likes of Federico Valverde, Eder Militao, and Eduardo Camavinga.
Now, Aurelien Tchouameni is next. He is arguably one of the best young players in the world, or he has showcased that playing for Monaco in these past two seasons.
Originally a product of the Bordeaux school, Tchouameni has impressed everyone with his footballing skill set in these past two years. In that time, he earned 74 league appearances for Monaco and quickly made the ranks of the French national team, where he is a mainstay. His ability to win the ball, but also progress, makes him a great hybrid midfielder for a Real Madrid side that needs new blood in that part of the field. Tchouameni will be playing fewer minutes at first, obviously, but as time goes on, he will form the future Real Madrid midfield with Camavinga and Valverde.
2. He is the ideal Casemiro replacement
A major reason why Real Madrid pushed so hard for Tchouameni is the fact that Casemiro, their stalwart defensive midfielder, is getting on in age. Now, 30 is not that old, especially considering the fact that Luka Modric is still the best Real Madrid midfielder at 37, but there needed to be an option for the future.
