The Indiana Pacers began their fire sale when they shipped out Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings in return for Tyrese Haliburton before last season’s NBA trade deadline. Haliburton’s acquisition and presence have essentially pushed Indiana into embracing a full-on rebuild.

Thanks to the rashness of the Kings’ brass, the Pacers were gifted a legitimate franchise cornerstone who’s still just 22 years old. Now, with some prudent roster construction, they can surround him with quality young running mates and form a future contender.

That being said, Indiana still has plenty of veteran holdovers on the roster. These pieces need to be dealt away to free up roster spots, minutes, and shots for the prospects that the Pacers will be collecting. In turn, trading these established players will bring back either more young talent or future assets to speed up their rebuild.

The two greatest veteran trade chips that the Pacers hold are Myles Turner and Malcolm Brogdon. Turner suffered an injury just before the trade deadline last season and will likely need to return to action to recover some of his value before being dealt next year.

Brogdon on the hand had recently signed an extension, making him ineligible to be traded last season but will be one of the most desirable players on the trade block in 2022-23.

Let’s look at three teams that should pursue a trade for Malcolm Brogdon in the offseason.

LA Clippers

Like the first two teams on this list, the LA Clippers have a star-studded roster that’s been sorely missing a true point guard to tie everything together. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard have flamed out in the playoffs twice now in three years. While injuries have been a big reason why, so has the lack of advanced playmaking and ball distribution.
