Four-star running back Jayden Limar committed to Notre Dame over finalists Oregon, Michigan and Arizona on Thursday afternoon during a ceremony at Lake Stevens (Wash.) High School, about an hour outside Seattle. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound back is the 13th public commitment in the Irish 2023 recruiting class that ranks No. 1 nationally on both 247Sports and On3.
Less than a week after losing one running back commitment, the Fighting Irish have found a replacement.
Limar’s decision comes in the wake of four-star Sedrick Irvin Jr.'s decommitment from Notre Dame on May 20. Irvin, the son of former Michigan State running back Sedrick Irvin, committed to former Notre Dame running backs coach Lance Taylor eight months ago, while Brian Kelly was still the head coach.
Based on his recruiting rankings, Limar appears to have the higher upside, as he’s rated higher than Irvin by both 247Sports and On3. As a junior at Lake Stevens, Limar ran for 1,549 yards and 20 touchdowns, adding 369 yards and four touchdowns as a receiver. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown as Lake Stevens went 11-1, falling in the state championship game.
