LeBron James has never been traded by his team seeking a change of direction. That should not come as a surprise to anybody with an interest in the NBA.
After all, he’s been widely regarded as one of the best players in the league since at least his sophomore year. In fact, he was regarded as a player with GOAT potential before he entered the league. Arguably, he’s lived up to it.
Any situation that saw him moved would likely come as a result of him demanding it. It’s overwhelmingly unlikely that the Lakers would willingly part with him, even at 37.
Yet, we dare to dream.
Things are not going well in La-La Land. The Lakers just wrapped up a painfully disappointing 2021-22 season. With massive contracts populating their books, it’s hard to imagine how they’ll retool for next season.
In the event that they go nuclear, here are three crazy trade ideas involving LeBron James.
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F Tobias Harris, G Tyrese Maxey, 2024 First-Round Pick (PHI), 2026 First-Round Pick (PHI)
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: F LeBron James
If any general manager is likely to trade an emerging star for an established one, it’s probably the Philadelphia 76ers’ Darryl Morey.
