Duke guard Trevor Keels is declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, he announced Saturday. The freshman is The Athletic's No. 24 overall prospect in the class, projected to be selected by the Indiana Pacers with the No. 31 pick in Sam Vecenie's latest mock draft.
Keels has until June 1 to pull his name out of the draft and still return to school next year, allowing him to test the waters of the draft process before making a final decision.
The 6-foot-5 Keels averaged 11.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals across 36 games (26 starts) in his first collegiate season. He shot 41.9 percent from the field and earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors.
Keels was a five-star recruit out of St. Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Va. and chose Duke over Kentucky, Virginia and Villanova, among others.
