The San Francisco Giants and the Cleveland Guardians meet in MLB action from Progressive Field on Friday night.

The San Francisco Giants will look to build on their series win over San Diego, picking up a 2-1 win over the Padres. Luke Williams had a double and both of the Giants’ RBIs while Darin Ruf had a double of his own. Wilmer Flores and Mauricio Dubon each had base hits as well as the Giants cranked out just four hits as a team in the winning effort. Logan Webb got the win to improve to 1-0 on the year after logging eight innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven. Camilo Doval got the save by closing out the 9th with a pair of strikeouts. Carlos Rodon will start here and is 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 12 strikeouts this season.

The Cleveland Guardians will be out to build on their 7-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds in their series finale in their last game. Jose Ramirez went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs while Owen Miller had a pair of solo home runs for his two RBIs. Oscar Mercado had a double and an RBI and Steven Kwan added an RBI as well to finish off the scoring for Cleveland in the win. Myles Straw had four hits and Amed Rosario added a base hit as well to finish off Cleveland’s offense as a team in the win. Triston McKenzie threw four shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six, not factoring in the decision. Eli Morgan got the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the year. Zach Plesac will start here and is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 3 strikeouts this season.

I get the case to be made either way here, but I’m leaning towards the under. Carlos Rodon was rock solid in his debut and while he’s not the ace-type name among the elite pitchers in the game, Zach Plesac is more than capable of matching zeroes with Rodon and I think this game is shaping up to be a bit of a lower-scoring pitcher’s duel and as such I’ll grab the under in this one.
