The Cleveland Guardians and the Cincinnati Reds meet in MLB action from Great American Ballpark on Tuesday.
The Cleveland Guardians will look to build on their 10-7 win over Kansas City last time out to earn a split in their series. Oscar Mercado and Steven Kwan each had three RBIs with Mercado belting a two-run home run while Kwan had a triple. Franmil Reyes and Amed Rosario each went 2 for 5 with an RBI and Jose Ramirez added an RBI as well for the Guardians in the win. Owen Miller added three hits with a pair of doubles while Myles Straw, Andres Gimenez and Ernie Clement each had base hits as well in the win. Aaron Civale allowed two runs on four hits while striking out three over 3.1 innings of work. Logan Allen got the win in relief to improve to 1-0 on the year. Shane Bieber will start here and is 0-0 with a 1.93 ERA and 4 strikeouts this season.
The Cincinnati Reds will look to build on the 6-3 win in their series finale against the Braves on Sunday. Kyle Farmer went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Tyler Stephenson had a solo home run. Tyler Naquin had a pair of hits with a double and an RBI while Nick Senzel and Colin Moran each had an RBI to round the scoring for the Reds in the win. Jonathan India added a base hit as well to finish off the offense for Cincinnati in the win. Hunter Greene got the win after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out seven over five innings of work. Art Warren closed the deal for the save. Tyler Mahle will start here and is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 7 strikeouts this season.
I get the trepidation that some may have to back Cleveland, as the Guardians just are not a great hitting lineup on paper. However, the human element is stil at play here and the Guardians played a lot better in the last two games of their series against Kansas City and that offensive momentum should carry over in the bandbox that is Great American Ballpark. The Reds are solid, but Mahle was crushed at home last year and I look for more of the same here. Give me the Guardians.
