Kentucky guard TyTy Washington is declaring for the 2022 NBA Draft, he announced on social media Wednesday. Washington is listed at No. 14 on Sam Vecenie's latest Big Board, projected to get picked at No. 15 by the Thunder in his mock draft.

"After discussing my options with Coach Cal, my parents and family, I've decided to make myself eligible for the upcoming NBA Draft," Washington said in a statement. "Leaving Kentucky won't be easy, but I am ready for the challenges ahead and know I am ready based on my experiences here in Lexington. Thank you again to the fans, the coaches, all the supporters of Kentucky Basketball and most importantly the people who helped me get here, my mom and my dad."

The 6-foot-3 Washington was arguably the best freshman guard in the country over the first half of the 2021-22 season. But the 20-year-old was hampered by multiple ankle injuries in games.

From game one to game 17, Washington averaged 14.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists while shooting 51.5 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3 and 82 percent from the line. Over his final 14 games during those two injuries, he averaged 10 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists and shot just 36.2 percent from the field and 27.7 percent from 3.

Washington joins a draft class that is expected to include top prospects such as Kentucky teammate Shaedon Sharpe, Gonzaga center Chet Holmgren, Auburn forward Jabari Smith, Purdue guard Jaden Ivey and Duke forward Paolo Banchero.
