Five-time NBA All-Star and two-time Coach of the Year Gene Shue died at the age of 90, the league announced Monday. No cause of death was given.

Shue began his lengthy professional basketball career — 10 years as a player, 22 as a coach and 19 as an executive — when the Philadelphia Warriors drafted the guard with the third overall pick in 1954. He went on to play for the New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and Baltimore Bullets (now the Washington Wizards). He earned his five All-Star selections consecutively from 1957-62 with the Pistons, retiring in 1964.

Shue started coaching in 1966 with the Baltimore Bullets, winning the Eastern Conference title in 1971 before losing to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Finals.
