The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Tomas Hertl to an eight-year contract with an annual cap hit at around $8 million, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

Hertl was one of the top names who could have been available at the NHL trade deadline as he was a pending unrestricted free agent.
