The landscape in the NBA changed drastically when the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets pulled off a huge blockbuster deal ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Philadelphia landed James Harden and Paul Millsap with Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round draft picks heading to Brooklyn.
The 76ers, who were already among the favorites to win the NBA Championship, have an even better chance of doing it now. They were determined to land a second superstar to pair with MVP front-runner Joel Embiid and accomplished that goal by landing Harden.
While the Nets are waiting for Simmons to get back on the court, we have already gotten a glimpse of what Harden and Embiid are capable of playing together. They are now one of the best duos in the NBA.
It was certainly a windy road for these two to end up together, but it is ultimately what Harden and the 76ers wanted. Now, it is time for them to make the most of the opportunity presented to them.
Alas, whenever a trade of that magnitude is completed, there will be a lot of fallout from it. For the 76ers, numerous questions will need to be answered over the next few weeks before they embark on their playoff run.
Here are three key questions the 76ers are facing with Harden now in the lineup.
3. Who Starts and Closes Games?
The Philadelphia 76ers likely have three players locked into the starting and closing lineup on every given night in James Harden, Joel Embiid, and Tobias Harris. With how things have looked in the first three games Harden has played, it is probably safe to say that Tyrese Maxey is locked in as the fourth.
