The future of Robert Lewandowski is among the more notable dilemmas that Bayern Munich is currently facing.

As it stands, Lewandowski has one more full season remaining on his current contract deal with Bayern Munich. Unless he ends up coming to terms with Bayern Munich officials on a contract extension deal before the upcoming summer transfer window closes, he would then play the 2022-2023 campaign on the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga powerhouse.

Ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic opened up to Sky Sport about his aspirations to keep the current German top-flight leading scorer at the club and also noted that he is not interested in parting ways with him in the summer transfer window later on this year.

“Lewa is of course a very, very important part of our team,” Salihamidzic said. “He’s back on track to shoot our team to titles, so it’s out of the question at all.

“Of course we will do everything we can to ensure that he stays.”

Overall, Lewandowski earned a start for Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt. Although he entered the match in keen form with five goals scored in his last three appearances in Bundesliga play, he did not score in the match despite recording a trio of shots on target.
