The New Orleans Pelicans have missed Zion Williamson all season, and started really poorly as a result, going 1-12 at the beginning of the season. They have however clawed their way back, and have a chance to make the play-in tournament.
Even if they don't make the play-in tournament or the playoffs this year, it would be in the Pelicans' best interest to build a competitive team and surround Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram with other good players that can help them make a good run in the playoffs in the future. Zion Williamson had an All-NBA caliber season last year putting up 27.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG. Brandon Ingram is putting up 22.4 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 5.3 APG this season, and could potentially make the All-Star game as a reserve.
