When it comes to recruiting, no detail is too infinitesimal to mean something to someone somewhere. 

So, when an email address for 5-star guard Emoni Bates showed up in the University of Memphis' system, it left some wondering whether it was an inadvertent indication of Bates' decision to play basketball for the Tigers.

The No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2021 is, after all, strongly considering attending Memphis. He took an official visit to the school last week and did the same to Oregon. Bates also lists Michigan State and the G League.
