Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs, who won Super Bowl 57 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Sunday evening. Kansas City lifted the Lombardi Trophy for the 2nd time in the past 4 seasons, beating the Philadelphia Eagles in a 38-35 thriller. A late holding call on 3rd down that allowed the Chiefs to run out the clock almost all the way en route to a Harrison Butker game-winning field goal will be the subject of much controversy over the coming days — and if you’re a Philadelphia fan probably months and years.
But as we continue to sift through what just happened, with the 2022 NFL season in the rearview mirror it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the 2023 campaign. As such, it’s time to take a look at the Super Bowl 58 odds and discuss some early best bets.
Super Bowl 58 odds
As is often the case with Andy Reid roaming the sidelines and Patrick Mahomes under center, the Chiefs are favored to win Super Bowl 58. The Bills, who were the favorites for much of this season, come in next. Topping the NFC list are – as you would expect – the Eagles.
Here are the top-15 favorites to lift the Lombardi Trophy next year, with odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook:
Kansas City Chiefs +600
Buffalo Bills +850
Philadelphia Eagles +900
Cincinnati Bengals +900
San Francisco 49ers +900
Dallas Cowboys +1500
Baltimore Ravens +1600
Los Angeles Chargers +2000
Green Bay Packers +2500
Jacksonville Jaguars +2500
Detroit Lions +2500
New York Jets +2500
Los Angeles Rams +3000
Miami Dolphins +3000
Cleveland Browns +3500
2023 Super Bowl 58 best bet: Philadelphia Eagles (+900)
In order to win the Super Bowl, you obviously have to get there first. What’s the easiest path to do so? Through the NFC, of course. As the odds indicate, the top 2 Super Bowl favorites reside in the AFC. The 49ers could be formidable again next season in the NFC, but they are already dealing with more quarterback uncertainty. Contrary to what Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was recently bloviating about, the Eagles most definitely did not mortgage their future in exchange for immediate success. Their current personnel is loaded and they are stocked with upcoming draft picks. This is a franchise that is built for sustained greatness.
2023 Super Bowl 58 best longshot bet: Detroit Lions (+2500)
For the same reasons mentioned above, I am staying in the NFC. After all, I don’t see an AFC longshot turning the tables on the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals to steal a spot in the Super Bowl. Things are much more open in the NFC, where the Lions may be ready to strike. They ended this past season with an 8-2 record in their last 10 games, finishing over .500 (9-8) after starting 1-6. Detroit is young, on the rise and has plenty of momentum following the 2022 campaign. It also finds itself in an extremely winnable NFC North, and a division title is the first step toward the Super Bowl. You can get this at +3000 at DraftKings compared to the +2500 at FanDuel, making it a considerably better play.
