As we enter the summer months, it’s becoming increasingly clear on who the contenders are for a playoff spot in Major League Baseball.
Many of the teams that came into the season as favorites have played well and are on their way to the postseason.
Let’s take a look at some of the favorites to win the World Series, along with their MLB World Series Betting Odds.
It’s Never Too Early to Talk About the Fall Classic | MLB World Series Betting
Los Angeles Dodgers +400
The Dodgers opened up the season at a +550, so the oddsmakers are gaining faith in their ability. Los Angeles currently owns the best record in the National League.
They have one of, if not the best, offense in the game. We say that, and Max Muncy has yet to even get his bat going. They’ve scored over 100 more runs than they’ve allowed this season.
Los Angeles also has a loaded farm system, so they’ll be able to make moves at the trade deadline. Even when they’ve had some injuries to the pitching staff, they’ve been able to plug pieces in, and they’ve done well.
New York Yankees +550
Speaking of offenses, the Yankees have been mashing the ball. This Yankees lineup has been so good this season, led by Aaron Judge, who now has 20 home runs.
This is a contract year for Judge, so we expect big things from him. Even though he’s missed some time due to injury, Giancarlo Stanton has looked great. We can’t forget the Yankees starting pitching staff, who has also been very good.
Nestor Cortes has come out of nowhere to become a Cy Young candidate. Gerrit Cole has been good, as has Jameson Taillon, and Luis Severino.
The Yankees have the best record in baseball, and they’re playing in a very tough division. We’ll see if they can continue on this great run.
New York Mets +800
After starting the season at a+2000, the Mets are showing everyone that they’re for real. When Steve Cohen bought the Mets, he promised to spend money to make them a winner, and that he’s done.
New York has a 8.5-game lead in the National League East. And we have to remember that they’ve done this without the services of Jacob deGrom this season. deGrom could be making a return soon, and that will make the Mets even stronger.
Max Scherzer and Tyler Megill have also missed significant time, yet the Mets are still hanging tough. Could we see another Subway Series in the fall?
Milwaukee Brewers +900
This team is good and has been under the radar for much of the season. They’re in a battle with the St. Louis Cardinals for the National League Central, but regardless of whether they win the division or not, this should be a playoff team.
The starting staff and the bullpen have been the strengths of this team. They’re still waiting for Christian Yelich to return to his MVP form, and he has shown signs of doing that.
If that happens, this team will be even better than they already are.
