The Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs meet Wednesday in MLB action from Wrigley Field. This will be the finale in a four-game series. The Brewers took both installments of a doubleheader on Monday, then in the Tuesday matchup Chicago got a one-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Milwaukee eked out a 7-6 win over the Cubs in the opener of the Monday doubleheader, then bagged a 3-1 win in the nightcap. On Tuesday in game three, the Brewers posted seven team hits and two errors in an 8-7 loss. Starter Eric Lauer managed two earned on five hits and three walks in 4.0 frames.

For the starter gig in the Wednesday game, the Brewers didn’t immediately announce a name.

Over on the Cubs’ side, they had a good offensive outing (12 hits) in game one of the Monday doubleheader but couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard. On Tuesday, the Cubs managed 12 hits in the comeback win. Justin Steele left after 5.0 innings, three earned, three hits and four walks.

Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for the Cubs on Wednesday for game four. Over 10 starts so far Hendricks is 2-5 with a 5.20 ERA. Across 53.2 innings of work he has 54 hits, 31 earned, 18 walks and 36 Ks.

PICK: I’m likely going to try the Brewers here. Milwaukee should be able to tame Hendricks if things continue to trend the way they have. Hendricks has had a couple of rough losses in his last two starts with 11 earned on 13 hits and three walks in 9.0 innings combined. A little bit of offense from the Brewers will probably go a long way in this one.
