The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet in an NL East division matchup in MLB action from Citi Field on Monday.
The Atlanta Braves will look to rebound from back-to-back losses after a 7-3 loss to Texas in their last game. Matt Olson has a team-high 25 hits with a .291 batting average and a team-high 9 doubles while Marcell Ozuna has 23 hits with 5 doubles, 4 home runs and 10 RBIs. Austin Riley has 23 hits with 7 doubles, 6 home runs and a team-high 13 RBIs and Ozzie Albies has a team-high 6 home runs and 11 RBIs. Max Fried will start here and is 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 21 strikeouts this season.
The New York Mets will look to build on their 10-6 win over the Philadelphia Phillies from Sunday. Francisco Lindor leads the Mets with 25 hits along with 4 home runs and a .281 batting average while Pete Alonso also has 22 hits and 4 home runs with a team-high 18 RBIs. Starling Marte has 18 RBIs as well while Eduardo Escobar has a team-high 8 doubles as well as a triple and Brandon Nimmo has also chipped in a triple as well this season. Jeff McNeil has a team-high 26 hits, 7 doubles, a triple and a .361 batting average as well on the year. Chris Bassitt will start here and is 301 with a 2.25 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season.
Atlanta is 20-8 in their last 28 division games and 2-5 in their last 7 road games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record. New York is 13-5 in their last 18 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 homes games while the over is 2-0-2 in their last 4 games against a left-handed starter.
I get the reasoning for backing either side here, but I’m leaning towards the under. Max Fried has been really good in his last couple of starts, allowing just one run over 13 innings of work, while Bassitt has allowed one run or less in three of his four starts and with this game being a quick turnaround for the Mets and the Braves not really getting off the ground so far, give me the under.
