There has been a lot of speculation over the past year or so that the Carolina Panthers might be ready to move on without former All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey. On Tuesday, the Panthers are reportedly signing D’Onta Foreman to the team, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. That move only helps further the chatter about the future of McCaffrey in Carolina.
The Panthers star running back has been battling injuries the last couple of seasons. From 2017 through 2019, McCaffrey put up at least 1,900 yards from scrimmage each season. His ability to catch the ball out of the backfield has become stuff of legend. But the last two seasons, McCaffrey has played 10 games total.
McCaffrey’s touches per game have been among the highest since he entered the league. That is coming off the heels of heavy usage in college at Stanford. That has left many wondering how much tread is still left on the tires
