Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Williams reflected on how far he’s come and what it would mean for him to reach 1,000 scrimmage yards.

“That would mean a lot,” Williams said. “I came a long way from being undrafted and having to wait my turn. Like I said my opportunity came and I had to seize the moment. Just being patient and staying consistent is never easy having to wait for your turn. When you finally get your opportunity, you just got to make the most of it, but it would mean a lot to me.”

An undrafted free agent out of LSU in 2018, Williams has played behind guys like Spencer Ware, Kareem Hunt and Damien Williams. He’s waited a long time for his opportunity and now that it has arrived he has taken full advantage in the form of a career year. Should he reach 1,000 scrimmage yards, the most exciting part for Williams will be sharing the excitement with his band of brothers in the locker room.

“Even just sharing that moment with my teammates,” Williams continued. “Some of the guys I came in with, even Clyde (Edwards-Helaire), my brother. We both came from a struggle and came from a long way and I’ll get to share that moment with all those guys in the locker room. It’s going to be something special to me.”

The last time the Chiefs faced the Broncos, Williams managed 80 scrimmage yards on just eight touches and he wasn’t even the starter for that game. It’s a safe bet that when the clock hits zero on Saturday, Williams will be the third Chiefs player to hit 1,000 scrimmage yards on the season, joining Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce.
