With the 49ers holding franchise tag options in 2026 and 2027, they could delay negotiations, but waiting could lead to an asking price exceeding $60 million annually. Given Purdy’s proven abilities and head coach Kyle Shanahan’s confidence in him, it may be in the 49ers’ best interest to finalize an extension soon.
