The usually steady Jake Elliott suddenly went Brett Maher on Thursday.
The Philadelphia Eagles kicker Elliott largely had a game to forget against the Washington Commanders. Elliott flubbed three separate kicks (two field goals and an extra point), leaving seven points on the board for the Eagles. He missed from 44 in the first quarter, missed from 51 in the second, and then sent a PAT wide left in the fourth.

As a result of his brutal game, Elliott got sandblasted with memes on social media. Here is a sampling of some of the most cruel posts on X about his bad day at the office.

On the bright side, Elliott managed to salvage his outing with two made field goals (from 31 and 21 yards out) and two extra points, giving him an easier-to-stomach line of 4/7 on kicks for the day. The Eagles also managed to get a fairly easy 26-18 win despite the points that Elliott cost them.
But having three misses in a single game was still extremely uncharacteristic for Elliott. The former All-Pro had not missed even two field goals in a game since 2019 and had also hit 67 straight PATs entering Thursday’s contest.
On top of that, Elliott, still only 29, is one of the three highest-paid kickers in the league (making the same amount as Justin Tucker and trailing only Harrison Butker). Elliott has lost some range over the years though (which he used to be known for) and will have to take a good long look at himself after Thursday’s game to figure out what exactly went wrong.
