The Cleveland Browns have not yet revealed the full extent of Deshaun Watson’s injury suffered on Sunday. One video circulating online suggested that the quarterback’s season may be over.
Watson suffered a non-contact injury late in the first half of the Browns’ Week 7 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio. An emotional Watson was carted off the field with tears in his eyes.
Former Los Angeles Chargers head team doctor David Chao posted a clip on X showing a zoomed-in angle of Watson’s injury. The video emphasized how Watson’s Achilles tendon appeared to pop as he planted his right foot on the ground.
“By video, clear right Achilles tendon rupture,” captioned Dr. Chao on his post. “Telltale calf reverberation. Surgery and season over.”

If Watson is indeed ruled out for the season, it would be the second year in a row that his campaign ends early due to injury. Last season, Watson missed Cleveland’s final eight regular season games and its Wild Card round contest against the Houston Texans.
Based on how Browns supporters reacted to Watson’s injury in real time, Cleveland’s fan base may not feel too bad about the team losing its starting QB.
