The 2024 MLB season is getting closer and closer! We’re just a few weeks away from Opening Day for 28 ball clubs.
While the Dodgers and Padres will kick things off in Korea, the American League teams won’t start Opening Day until late March.
Let’s take a look at the 2024 American League odds below.

The American League has eight teams that have an argument to win the division. The other seven teams are pretenders and ballclubs to stay away from before the season begins.
The Yankees added Juan Soto to the top of their order and brought in Marcus Stroman to be the No. 3 starter in the starting rotation. Those were huge signings prior to the season and, if everyone can stay healthy, should help the Yankees take a leap this season.
On the other hand, the Astros made a few changes. They added Josh Hader as their closer but kept most of last year’s team intact after winning 90 games.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are one of the youngest teams in baseball. But they’re also one of the most skilled teams in the league and could really make a major jump this season. Plus, the addition of Corbin Burnes at the front of the starting rotation is insane. Baltimore at +550 would be my favorite pick of the top four teams.
Finally, the Rangers won the World Series last season. But three of their best pitchers are on the injury list until the second half of the season. The Rangers just need to stay consistent in the first half and then will get reinforcements like Jacob deGrom, Max Scherzer and Tyler Mahle.

AL East Best Value: Orioles
- +200 via Caesars Sportsbook
The Orioles will be incredibly deep this season. The starting lineup doesn’t have a single player who has played more than five seasons in the MLB.
For example, the go-to lineup against righties would have four players who were drafted in the first round, including Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, Jackson Holiday and Jordan Westburg. Meanwhile, Gunnar Henderson was a second-round pick, and Austin Hays was a third-round pick.
The Orioles also have a sneaky starting rotation. Baltimore hasn’t had a legitimate ace on the staff in years. But they finally made a run at Corbin Burnes and brought him in from the Brewers.
Burnes is ultimately a top-ten starter in the MLB and will lead a group of very young pitchers, including Grayson Rodriguez, Dean Kramer, Tyler Wells, and Cole Irvin.
Baltimore also added Craig Kimbrel to close out games and still has Yennier Cano as the set-up man. The value is on the Orioles in the AL East.

AL Central Best Value: Guardians
- +350 via Caesars Sportsbook
The Cleveland Guardians are sitting at +350 with the third-best odds to win the division. Cleveland might not be better than the Twins, but the Guardians have way more potential than the Tigers and should at least be ahead of them.
Cleveland will need some guys to step up this year. Andres Gimenez and Steven Kwan didn’t develop as expected last year. However, the Guardians still have eight of their nine starting players with MLB service time of less than five seasons. Only Jose Ramirez has played longer.
There’s a lot of potential in this Guardians lineup, and there’s room for development. The Guardians added Ramon Laureano from waivers in August of last year, and now he’ll be showing off his power in the middle of the lineup.
On the other hand, the starting rotation looks incredibly good. Shane Bieber took a step back last season. However, he’s expected to be good enough this year, along with young arms like Triston McKenzie, Tanner Bibee, Logan Allen, and Gavin Williams. All five of these arms have the potential to be aces.
Plus, the Guardians have Emmanuel Clase closing out games. I’d take a gamble on the Guardians at +350 odds.

AL West Best Value: Texas Rangers
- +210 via Caesars Sportsbook
The Astros barely made any changes to their team last year. However, the Rangers will have some new faces and more potential heading into 2024.
Texas watched young guys develop throughout the postseason last year. Evan Carter and Josh Jung were massive bats for last year’s World Series team. Those two will be major contributors this season, with help from last year’s first-round pick, Wyatt Langford.
Corey Seager, Jacob deGrom, Tyler Mahle and Max Scherzer will all begin the season on the injured list. Nathaniel Lowe, who has a strained oblique, will also likely begin the year injured. But if the Rangers can just hold their ground until these guys get back, Texas will be in amazing shape.
The starting rotation still has veteran arms like Nathan Eovaldi, Jon Gray, and Andrew Heaney. Despite their three best starters being injured, they’re not toast. Therefore, I’d roll with the Rangers at +210 odds to win the division.
